Workshop on the Applications of Commutative Algebra
May 26 - May 30
On May 26 – 30, 2025, the Fields Institute in Toronto will host a collaborative workshop aimed at researchers in commutative algebra who have not necessarily worked on the applications, but also at researchers in the applications with a background in commutative algebra. Deadline for applications: February 1, 2025. For more information, see the workshop website.
The focus groups and respective mentors are:
- Approximation Theory – Mike DiPasquale and Nelly Villamizar
- Spectral Theory – Stephen Shipman, Frank Sottile (first two days), and Matt Faust
- Tensors – JM Landsberg and Claudiu Raicu
- Coding Theory – Alberto Ravagnani and Diego Ruano
- Algebraic Statistics – Bernd Sturmfels (first two days), Seth Sullivant, and Max Wiesmann
- Numerical Algebraic Geometry – Jonathan Hauenstein and Paul Breiding
