Symmetries and Singularities in Texas
January 31, 2025 - February 2, 2025
The Symmetries and Singularities in Texas Conference will be held at Texas A&M University from January 31, 2025 to February 2, 2025.
The two primary goals of the conference are (i) to expose graduate students and young researchers at A&M and in the region to current research in commutative algebra, and (ii) to bring open questions in commutative algebra arising in applications to the attention of core commutative algebraists.
Format: There will be an initial one hour talk Friday afternoon by Matteo Varbaro. On Saturday and Sunday there will be four two-part talks (each totaling 40 × 2 = 80 minutes), with the first part being elementary and setting a context for the research part of the talk. In addition to the lectures, there will be a session describing open problems in commutative algebra arising from application areas such as classical linear algebra and complexity theory. Extended abstracts of the talks are below.
Speakers:
- Hai Long Dao, University of Kansas.
- Linquan Ma, Purdue University.
- Anurag Singh, University of Utah.
- Matteo Varbaro, U. Genova.
