Workshop on Cohen-Macaulay Rings at Ovidius University of Constanta

From April 5 to April 10, 2005, there will be a Workshop on Cohen-Macaulay Rings and Related Structures at Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania. The workshop is organized by Department of Mathematics, University of Kaiserslautern, supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, in cooperation with Institute of Mathematics “Simion Stoilow” of the Romanian Academy , Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Bucharest University, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Ovidius University, Constanta, and Romanian Mathematical Society.

Ottawa Workshop on Resolutions, Inverse Systems, and Coinvariants

The Fields Institute is sponsoring the 2nd Workshop on Resolutions, Inverse Systems, and Coinvariants at the University of Ottawa, January 13-15, 2005. The Workshop brings together Algebraic Combinatorialists and Commutative Algebraists to discuss relationships between special cases of the notion of Macaulay’s inverse systems in Commutative Algebra, and coinvariant spaces studied in Algebraic Combinatorics and Representation Theory.
Invited speakers include François Bergeron (UQAM), Nantel Bergeron (York), Tony Geramita (Queen’s), and Christophe Reutenauer (UQAM).
For more information, please see the Fields Institute’s web page for the Workshop, or contact one of the organizers: Riccardo Biagioli (UQAM), Sara Faridi (University of Ottawa), or Mercedes Rosas (York University).

Atlanta Joint Meetings

Srikanth Iyengar, Anurag Singh, Sean Sather-Wagstaff, and Carolyn Yackel will organize a Special Session on Commutative Algebra at the annual Joint Meetings of the AMS and MAA, in Atlanta, GA, January 5-8, 2005.
For more information, see the AMS page for the Session.
There will also be a Special Session on D-modules, organized by Uli Walther and Steve Sperber. For more information, see the AMS page for the Session, or for the meeting.

Montreal CMS meeting 2004

At the CMS meeting in Montreal, Quebec on December 11-13, 2004, there will be a special session in Commutative Algebra. One of the goals of the session is to bring together many of the people in Canada who are working in commutative algebra and related areas (e.g., algebraic combinatorics, algebraic geometry, invariant theory). The tentative plan is to have approximately 20 talks, of about 20 minutes each. There will be 10 minutes between talks for questions and discussion. A number of slots have been left open for other talks, especially by graduate students and recent PhDs. If you are interested in giving a talk, please contact one of the organizers listed below.

More information, including confirmed speakers, is on the session web page.
