Five mathematical organizations have joined to organize their First Joint International Meeting in Bilbao, Spain, from June 30 to July 4, 2014. They are: UMI (Italian Mathematical Union), SIMAI (Italian Society for Applied and Industrial Mathematics), RSME (Royal Spanish Mathematical Society), SCM (Catalan Mathematical Society), and SEMA (Spanish Society for Applied Mathematics). The joint meeting will include a Recent Developments in Commutative Algebra. The session is organized by:
- Caviglia Giulio (Purdue University, USA)
- Joan Elias (University of Barcelona, Spain)
- Philippe Gimenez (University of Valladolid, Spain)
- Maria Evelina Rossi (University of Genoa, Italy)
The aim of the special session is to disseminate recent developments in commutative algebra, to foster collaboration among the participants and to set up new directions for further investigations. It will focus, among others, on the following topics:
- Characteristic p methods.
- Structure of the free resolutions.
- Hilbert functions.
- Groebner bases and determinantal ideals.
- Homological methods.
