The Joint Mathematics Meetings of the AMS, MAA, and other mathematical organizations (ASL, AWM, MER, NAM, PME, RMMCand SIAM) will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, January 12-15, 2006. There will be several events and sessions of interest to commutative algebraists.
- David Eisenbud will give the AMS Retiring Presidential Address.
- I. Peeva, S. Popescu, and G. Smith are organizing the Special Session on Syzygies in Commutative Algebra and Geometry.
- M. Neusel and D. Wehlau are organizing the Special Session on Invariant Theory.
- S. Chapman and J. Coykendall are organizing the Special Session on Commutative Rings and Monoids.
In addition, Scott Chapman and Jim Coykendall have organized an afternoon of 45-minute talks entitled “Current Trends in Commutative Rings and Moniods”. This satellite session will be held on January 11 at Trinity University.
