The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and CIMPA will sponsor a Summer School on the topic Singularities: algebra, geometry and applications in Kiev, Ukraine, August 8–19 2011.
The aim of the Summer School is to introduce younger researchers and graduate students to modern trends of the theory of singularities, including both algebraic and geometric aspects, and both classical approaches and the newest ones, related to derived categories, noncommutative geometry, representation theory, tropical geometry, etc. In particular, introductory courses in these areas will be given.
The lecture courses will include:
- Isolated Gorenstein Singularities (R.-O.Buchweitz, University of Toronto)
- Cohen-Macaulay modules over surface singularities (I.Burban, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universitaet Bonn)
- Derived categories and tilting with applications to singularities (I.Drozd, Institute of Mathematics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine)
- Lie algebras and singularity theory (A.Elashvili, Mathematical Institute of Georgian Academy of Science)
- Invariants and deformations of hypersurface singularities (G.-M.Greuel, Universitaet Kaiserslautern)
- Poincaré series of filtrations, integrals with respect to the Euler characteristic, and monodromy zeta-functions (S.Gusein-Zade, Moscow State University)
- Vanishing cycles of polynomial functions (M.Tibar, Universite de Lille 1, and D.Siersma, Universiteit Utrecht)
- SINGULAR in the theory of singularities (O.Drozd-Koroleva, Kiev Taras Shevchenko University)
There will also be talks by the participants.
